Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
